The mass Rhysida hack is said to have stolen leaked data from the Maryland Department of Transportation from $3.4 million worth of 30 Bitcoin (BTC).
Rhysida announced the sale this week, advertising a seven-day auction to anyone who wants to buy the data. This includes Social Security Number, ID details, audit reports, confidential legal documents, and attorney-client communications.

On Monday, officials from the Maryland Transit Agency (MTA), a branch of the Maryland Department of Transportation, revealed they were suffering from unauthorized cybersecurity violations that resulted in “data loss.”

As a precaution, the department is warning users and state employees to update their login credentials, ensure multifactor authentication is enabled, beware of phishing attempts, and update devices.

The actor, under the name of Rhysida, is threatening luxury yacht dealers in Portugal and Kuwait, as well as US hospitals, UK libraries and government agencies, while demanding BTC in exchange for stolen data.
