A total of 19,908,015 BTC has been issued through the mining industry, according to data from CoinMarketCap.
The total supply of Bitcoin is fixed at 21 million BTC. The diagram suggests that over 94% of this has been published, with 1,091,185 BTC mined. With over a million BTC remaining to mine, market enthusiasts have speculated when the last BTC will be mined.
In a recent tweet, Bitcoin historian Pete Rizzo shared an estimate of when this will happen. Rizzo predicts that the final Bitcoin could be mined about 79 years from now, meaning that the last full Bitcoin will be issued on August 17th, 2104.
Just: The final #bitcoin will be mined exactly 79 years from today

Images accompanying Rizzo’s tweet highlighted this estimate. Bitcoin is expected to reach 95% of the total Bitcoin supply issued on November 18, 2025. It is expected to reach 99% of supply on January 8, 2035, with 99.9% of supply expected to reach November 6, 2047.
Bitcoin Harving
Bitcoin supply is created through mining. This includes computers that validate transactions and receive Bitcoin as rewards. Nakamoto Atoshi, creator of Bitcoin’s pseudonym, has embedded a hard cap of 21 million coins into his Bitcoin code.
Mining compensation is halved every four years, slowing down the speed at which new Bitcoin enters supply.
The latest half event, the fourth since Bitcoin launch in April 2024, reduced its rewards from 6.25 BTC to 3.125 BTC. The next half is expected to occur in 2028, reducing mining rewards to 1.5625 BTC.
The 64th and final half events are estimated to occur in 2140, and no new Bitcoin will be created again after that.
