Peter Schiff, an economist known for his anti-crypto views, has called on investors to sell Bitcoin, calling it an “unmissable opportunity” for Bitcoin to trade at $100,000.
Schiff argued that current prices are not sustainable over the long term and that these levels may never be seen again in a lifetime, and argued that Bitcoin holders should sell without delay.
Schiff’s comments quickly sparked controversy on social media, with some users reminding him that the economist had issued a similar warning 12 years ago when BTC soared to $1,000.
Among the criticisms leveled at Mr. Schiff was the question, “If $100,000 is a historic opportunity, why would you recommend selling?” In response, Schiff said that Bitcoin will never rise above $100,000 again because a price decline is imminent.
Schiff has long been known as an avid advocate of gold, noting that gold has underperformed in the price of Bitcoin after its recent rally.
