Last month I was able to sit with Bitcoin core developer Sjors Provooost at MIT Bitcoin Expo.
Sjors is a Bitcoin developer who has become a physicist and believes it is actually a fairly common phenomenon. He began contributing to Bitcoin Core in 2017. This is a very turbulent period when the activation of isolated witnesses was unfolding at the pinnacle of the block-size war between user-activated softfork and the New York Agreement.
He is also a co-host Bitcoin explaineda podcast made by Aaron Van Wirdum, the current editor of Bitcoin Magazine. Recently, he also writes books. Bitcoin: Work in progressexplains the technical aspects of Bitcoin. Each chapter is paired with an episode from the podcast.
We talked about the Bitcoin Core Project itself. How it is organized, what it is to tackle, some of the challenges that can emerge for those who make the leap towards contributing directly to the Bitcoin core itself.
