Plastiks, a plastic recovery verification platform, is expanding its Cardano-based system for validating plastic recovery. The platform creates digital records for brands and governments seeking trusted environmental data. This translates real-world recovery activities into immutable certificates on the blockchain.
This system issues digital recovery certificates, often referred to as plastic credits. These are recorded on the Cardano blockchain to ensure transparency and prevent false claims. The blockchain’s low-energy design aligns with the platform’s sustainability goals.
Plastiks examines the work of collection organizations such as waste cooperatives and recyclers. Check documents such as invoices and transportation records. After verification, we issue a non-tradable NFT certificate that stores all evidence on-chain.
This project was funded by Project Catalyst, Cardano’s community treasury. This supports the development of open reporting tools and infrastructure.
Plastiks also works with the United Nations Development Programme. A pilot program in Armenia is testing real-time tracking of plastic collection.
