Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin’s wealth is estimated by Arkham Intelligence to be at least $1.05 billion as of August 2025.
Eth Holdings is a large part of his wealth, but Buterin’s portfolio is also complemented by a variety of Altcoins and Crypto Venture Investments.
Buterin’s known wallet holds around 240,000 ETH, and his wealth is heavily dependent on Ethereum’s price. In 2021, 2024 and 2025, ETH prices rose above $3,000, and Buterin re-entered the billionaire list. However, due to price fluctuations in ETH, his wealth has occasionally fallen below $1 billion, but has since recovered.
Among his assets outside of ETH, he stands out for his investments in projects such as Aave V3 Weth, Moodeng, White Tokens and Starknet. Buterin’s Memecoin Holdings consists of talented tokens from developers. He also obtained half of Shiba Inu (Shib) supply from the developer in 2020. Butarne burned and donated most of these tokens.
Butaline’s wealth was shaped by his share of the establishment of Ethereum. During the 2014 ETH PRESALE, 16.5% stake was distributed to the founders. Buterin’s share of this share helped him grow his crypto holdings. Since the official launch of Ethereum in 2015, as the only founder to stay active on the project, he has played a key role in the development of the network.
Meanwhile, Buterin’s investment in Crypto’s startups has also contributed to his wealth. His interest in companies like Starkware remains unknown, but his contributions to major industry projects have contributed to his net worth.
As of today, the Vitalik Buterin is Ethereum’s biggest ETH holder. Wallets that hold large amounts of ETH are primarily managed by exchanges and institutional funds.
Buterin joined Crypto World in 2011 and paved the way for distributed applications using Ethereum Whitepaper, published in 2013.
