What is Dimens?
Dymension is a delegated Proof-of-Stake (POS) L1 chain that protects modular blockchains within a system known as Rollapps.
Rollapps is a blockchain built on top of Dymension using the Rollapp Development Kit (RDK).
You can compare Rollapps as the frontend of the application you use using using using the familiar analogy, but Dymension is the server on which it runs, connects to other apps and supports a variety of backend functions.
The development kits they use are very similar to those used in COSMOS chains to quickly deploy additional chains.
Dymension existed in early February last year and launched the native token Dym.
The total supply is set at 1 billion tokens, with market capitalization slightly above the $700 million mark, and current circular supply is just under 320 million, according to Coingecko’s latest data.
Airdrop and upgrade details
The first airdrop they made on Genesis Day distributed over $400 million tokens to early adopters of the blockchain.
Participation in this airdrop takes place in “Waves”, with the first opportunity to register has been booked for long-standing community members who have staking DYM tokens over the years.
The development team says only an elementary version of the protocol was released on Genesis Day. Therefore, users can now expect numerous improvements using future upgrades.

Perhaps the central focus of future upgrades is the possibility of building rollups over existing L1 chains and ecosystems without changing the underlying core protocols.
The network blocking time has also been reduced to about 5 seconds, and is in line with major players such as Solana.
