Ethereum, a decentralized blockchain platform, will implement the Fusaka Hard Fork upgrade on December 3, 2025.
The upgrade is intended to increase Ethereum’s data capacity by up to 10 times, and could potentially boost layer 2 solutions such as rollups. The developer community estimates that the enhancement could allow transaction speeds of up to 12,000 TP across the ecosystem by 2026.
Ethereum has undergone several major upgrades in recent years, including a transition to 2022 demonstrations known as Merge.
Previous upgrades like Pectra have gradually increased the data blob capacity on Ethereum and set stages to support higher transaction throughput, focusing on further scaling of Fusaka.
This upgrade coincides with Ethereum’s control in decentralized finance, and holds more than 50% of the total value locked in the defi protocol. Fusaka was able to strengthen this position by reducing costs and improving efficiency for users and developers.
