These profiles may be fine for targeted ads, but they are not reliable enough for serious situations, such as applying for a loan, obtaining a license, proof of identity to a bank. So I always re-enter my details, fill out the infinite form, and juggle my username and password. This is an outdated, broken system and the IOTA ID is designed to fix it.
Self-robber identity and privacy
IOTA ID introduces IOTA MainNet to self-strong identity (SSI), verifiable credentials, and privacy-focused digital interactions. I recently moved from Stardust VM to MoveVM, and now I am benefiting from a safer and more flexible environment for running smart contracts.
The system ensures data integrity around IOTA’s immutable ledgers while keeping verifiable credentials off-chain, protecting privacy and giving users complete control. Built on W3C’s distributed identity standard, this distributed identifier (DID) is used to enable individuals, businesses, and even devices to create and manage their own digital IDs protected by encryption keys.
Through encryption verification, identity and credentials can be confidently authenticated, but the standardized format ensures smooth interoperability across the platform. This makes your IOTA ID suitable for personal IDs, business transactions, and IoT authentication. All of this is within a user-centric framework that promotes trust.
Unlike traditional blockchains, IOTA’s distributed ledger technology relies on oriented acyclic graphs (DAGs) rather than chains of blocks. This structure, called Tangle, supports the integrity layer of transactional payments and data, providing a clearer approach compared to Bitcoin and Ethereum.
As part of this mission, the IOTA network deployed an ObjectID. This is a distributed app designed to provide your own tamper-proof digital identity for real-world products. To support this, the native tokens for ObjectId have been made live on Iota Mainnet.
At the same time, IOTA also introduced IOTA Hierarchies. It is an open source tool that allows people, organizations, and even devices to safely delegate trust. The Alpha-released hierarchy is built to expand and lays the foundation for verifiable encryption trust in complex digital ecosystems.
